1976 08 17 Detroit Tigers vs California Angels (Ernie Harwell)

This one goes out to our community member Steve Austin. I realize there hasn't been a lot of variation team wise the last month, and a lot of Mets. Back in earlier years, a lot less broadcasts of various teams, and most of the saved broadcasts youll find from then are Mets, Yankees, or Dodgers. Also, all the recent broadcasts have been provided by Dan H. so even if you don't like the Mets, please thank him. I try to still buy games to post but it's a ton of money for games and the Patreon I tried didn't raise much. So really, I understand some people might complain, but we got what we got, there are 400+ broadcasts on this channel now and I really want to thank Dan, Karl, everyone who has helped. Long live baseball on the radio. Also for more post 1973 broadcasts check our sister channel run by a friend

1984 World Series, Game 5: Padres @ Tigers

San Diego Padres 4 at Detroit Tigers 8, F -- Game 5 started out poorly for the Padres when Mark Thurmond gave up three runs in the first inning. But they managed to rally back and were within one run of the Tigers in the eighth inning when Kirk Gibson came up to bat to face Goose Gossage. Though Gossage had been encouraged to walk Gibson, Gossage decided to pitch to him instead. Gibson responded with a three-run blast that clinched the Series for the Tigers. Sparky Anderson became the first manager to win World Championship titles in both the National and American Leagues.

From the 1986 Old Timers game at Fenway Park, this is the three plate appearances made by Ted Williams in the game. Sadly, we were robbed of the Williams vs Mark Fidrych matchup by a pitching change.
