Gido Vermeulen’s players achieved an amazing win against the current Olympic champion Brazil 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-21) in one of the most interesting matches in “Arena Monbat”. The Europeans were one set behind but managed to come back for their second win against this opponent in the history of this major volleyball event! The first one happened 52 years ago in Czechoslovakia in 1966! The South Americans started the match with an aggressive powerful serve. On the other hand, the Netherlands made too many unforced errors (11) and Brazil won the opening set by 25-21. Douglas Souza topped the list of the scorers in the first minutes with 5 points. The second set was completely different story. The Netherlands reduced the unforced errors and made only 3 during the whole set. Gido Vermeulen’s players also started to play pretty well in attack and block, which led them to 25-20. Thijs Ter Horst was the most prolific player on the field in this minutes with 10 points. The Europeans took early 4-point advantage (11-7) in the third set, but with a great serving by Lucas Saatkamp and unbelievable blocking by Lipe, Brazil came back and made the result 12-11. With great team work in all aspects of the game and fighting spirit for every single ball, the Hollands smashed Brazil and won the set by 25-20. In the fourth set the Dutch continued to be the better team on the field and took 5-point advantage 18-13. Despite the tough situation Brazil managed to come back but in the end Renan Dal Zotto’s players made a lot of unforced errors and the Netherlands achieved one of their biggest volleyball victories after 25-21! Wouter Ter Maat finished as a top scorer for the winners with 16 points! Thijs Ter Horst added 15 for the Dutch. For Brazil Lucas Saatkamp and Douglas Souza scored 13 points each. Russia vs. Italy | Highlights | Mens World Championship 2018

Хочешь быть в курсе самых свежих событий волейбола Подписывайся на телеграмм канал https://tlgg.ru/Game_Volley Milan, Italy, September 22, 2018 – The ‘Clash of the Titans’ featuring Italy and Russia was the major highlight of the second competition day in Milan. The support of as many as 13,000 fans was not enough for the hosts to add a seventh straight victory to their tally as Russia snatched the win 3-2 (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11). Maxim Mikhaylov and Dmitriy Muserskiy with 18 and 15 points were too much to stand for the co-hosts of the tournament who responded with 21 and 16 points by their star players, Ivan Zaytsev and Osmany Juantorena. Still, the result is enough for Italy to progress to the Final Six of the tournament they are co-hosting together with Bulgaria. With the return of Filippo Lanza, Italy had all their main weapons at hand, and pushed by the partisan crowd, Zaytsev and Juantorena secured a 17-13 lead in the opening set. Russia head coach Sergei Shliapnikov decided to change setter, which sparked a comeback for 15-17. Thrilling rallies literally made the whole venue rock with Italy always in command up to the end, as middle blocker Daniele Mazzone sealed a 25-19 win for the home side. Coach Shliapnikov decided that setter Alexander Butko would be taking to the court again. Russia took a 13-9 lead as Italy struggled with a series of service errors, but Zaytsev shortened the distance at 13-15. Russia raised their mighty block for 20-13. The Azzurri lost focus and Russia further extended their lead (23-16). Simone Anzani tried to delay the end of the set (18-23), but Mikhaylov (best scorer of the set with six points) had the last word (25-18). The reigning European champions kept their performance at a high level, as their effectiveness in attack improved from 33% to a monstrous 60%, this resulting in an 18-12 lead. Italy coach Gianlorenzo Blengini decided to replace Filippo Lanza with Gabriele Maruotti but this did not stop Russia and again Mikhaylov finished it all off at 25-21. Juantorena and Zaytsev, Italy’s lethal weapons, secured an 11-8 lead for the home side in the fourth set, which is what the partisan crowd had been longing for. Russia could not find a response as Zaytsev smashed down every ball (19-15) and with Juantorena at his best, these two contributed to a 25-19 win for Italy. The battle was fierce in the decisive set with the score levelled at 6-6, but an ace by Dmitry Volkov put Russia ahead 8-6. Dmitriy Muserskiy widened the gap for 12-10, before Russia sealed their 3-2 victory at 15-11. About the FIVB The FIVB is the governing body responsible for all forms of volleyball on a global level. Russia vs. Australia | Highlights | Mens World Championship 2018

Хочешь быть в курсе самых свежих событий волейбола Подписывайся на телеграмм канал https://tlgg.ru/Game_Volley Bari, Italy, September 12, 2018 - The much-anticipated matchup starring Russia and Australia lived up to all expectations with the Russian side able to storm to a comprehensive 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) victory at PalaFlorio in Bari. The impressive middle blocker Dmitriy Muserskiy and opposite Maxim Mikhaylov were pivotal to Russia’s victory as they recorded 13 and 17 points, respectively. Their teammates Dmitry Volkov and Artem Volvich scored 10 and 9 points to add to Russia’s tally. Australia put up a fight in the first two sets, with opposite Paul Carroll registering 13 points to his name. In the second match of Pool C, the Volleyroos around coach Mark Lebedew tried to stand the challenge against the powerful machine of Russia, who won the inaugural VNL earlier this summer and gold at last year’s European Championship as well. From the very beginning, it was a close fight and a thrilling game with the favourites from Russia trying to disrupt the Australian rhythm and eventually moving to the front to complete their winning run at 25-21. Until the first half of the second set, the course of the game did not change much, with both sides delivering exciting actions. Two stunning aces contributed three set points for Russia. Australia responded with a winning spike but Volvich sealed a 25-20 win to double the lead for Russia. Russia continued to dominate in the third set with Australia trying to respond to the overwhelming attack actions of their opponents. The men coached by Lebedew struggled in offering a consistent defence against the imposing Russian blocks. Thus, Russia made it clear that they would show no mercy. The players around head coach Sergei Shliapnikov kept their early lead and closed the set 25-16 to start their World Championship journey with a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
