Roman Gonzalez vs Brian Viloria - Highlights (Explosive FIGHT & KNOCKOUT)

On this day, a great World Flyweight Title fight took place between Nicaraguan legend Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and Brian Viloria aka “Hawaiian Punch". Gonzalez’s The Ring, WBC and Lineal Flyweight Titles were on the line. At this time, Chocolatito was widely considered to be the No. 1 P4P Fighter in the World. Prefight records; Gonzalez 43(37)-0, Viloria 36(22)-4. Gonzalez was undefeated going into the bout and was a triple crown World Champion at Minimumweight, Light Flyweight and Flyweight. He had beaten top oppositions in Akira Yaegashi, Omar Soto, Rocky Fuentes, Edgar Sosa, Manuel Vargas, Ramon Garcia Hirales, Omar Salado, Yutaka Niida, Katsunari Takayama, Francisco Rodriguez Jr, Juan Francisco Estrada and Francisco Rosas (2x). Viloria on the other hand had won world titles at Light Flyweight and Flyweight, and had notable wins over Omar Soto, Omar Niño Romero, Julio Cesar Miranda, Giovani Segura, Carlos Tamara, Eric Ortiz, Gilberto Keb Baas, Ulises Solis, Jose Antonio Aguirre and Hernan Marquez. From the opening bell, both fighters went to war; throwing and connecting with their best shots. Viloria was knocked down in the 3rd round from a thunderous Chocolatito right hand. It was the 1st knockdown of his boxing career - in his 281st fight (amateur and pro). Viloria showed tremendous determination by coming back strong after rising up from the canvas, and continued to engaged Chocolatito in an all out war. In the 9th round, he managed to wobble him badly with a pulverizing body shot. But Gonzalez, in his own display of fighting heart recovered and stopped Viloria with his vaunted punches in bunches in the very same round! A year after this victory, Roman Gonzalez became World Champion in his 4th weight division by beating Carlos Cuadras via UD to bag the WBC Super Flyweight Title.
