Kid Cudi - Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 --------------- Kanye West + Kid Cudi: Pioneering Modern Music Throughout music history, iconic songwriting duos have produced some of the greatest albums of all time. Among some of the best in music, the collaboration between Kid Cudi and Kanye West is considered the most influential of the last decade. Kanye and Cudi first crossed paths at a record store in New York City. Cudi had just moved to New York in 2004 in order to pursue his ambitions to become a musician. With nothing more than a demo and $500 to his name, he was determined to make it in the music industry. The Day n Night demo eventually caught Kanye’s attention, and in 2008 he signed Cudi to his label, GOOD Music, giving him the tools he needed to release his debut mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi. When Kanye West began work on his 4th studio album, he felt that rapping alone didn’t fully express the emotions he was feeling. In order to convey the melodies in his head, he heavily autotuned his voice, produced instrumentals inspired by 1980’s synthpop, and prominently featured the Roland TR-808 drum machine. Kanye knew the direction he wanted to go with the album, but he couldn’t fully create the atmosphere he desired without the help of Kid Cudi. Cudi heavily contributed to the sound of 808’s & Heartbreak. He helped write and produce numerous tracks and was even featured on Welcome to Heartbreak, and Paranoid. Upon its release, 808’s received mixed reviews from critics. A review from SPIN stated, “808’s leaves us with unresolved melodies, self-pity, and the nagging realization that there really is no escape from T-Pain.” This was harsh criticism, but the impact that 808’s and Heartbreak had on the music world wasn’t fully realized until years later. Without the influence of 808’s, we wouldn’t have artists of today such as Drake, Post Malone, and Lil Uzi Vert. A year after the release of 808’s, Kid Cudi released his debut album, Man On The Moon: The End Of Day, which featured an atmospheric, and psychedelic sound. It was one of the most unique hip-hop albums to come out of that time period. Kanye West was the executive producer on the album and co-wrote the tracks: Sky Might Fall, and Make Her Say. Since those early projects, Kanye and Cudi have continued to work together on numerous tracks, and the tracks that they’ve collaborated on have been some of the biggest hits to come from either artist. The two artists have decided to officially release a full-length album under the name, Kids See Ghost, which is expected to be released on June 8th, 2018. With the kind of music the two have produced together in the past, this is something to get excited about. Projects like 808’s and Heartbreak, and Man On The Moon, pioneered new sounds and inspired a whole new generation of hip-hop. Will Kids See Ghost do the same? --------------- #music #kanyewest #kidcudi #videoessay DISCLAIMER: We do not own any of the video or music used to create this video.
